Albania Flag: Meaning and History

History of the flag
The flag of Albania originates from the seal of Skanderbeg, leader of the revolt against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century.
Several banners have succeeded each other since the country's independence in 1912. The current version dates from 1992.
What do the elements of the flag mean?

The double-headed eagle, symbolizing a religiously divided Albania between Catholics and Orthodox Christians, has outstretched wings embodying freedom.
The red background illustrates the blood shed for the homeland.
