History of the flag
On the 24 of February 1848, the day the Second Republic was proclaimed, the National Decree invested a new blue-red-white tricolor flag.
Unpopular, the flag only lasted twelve days.
What do the elements of the flag mean?
Blue represents Paris, vigilance and justice.
Red represents the blood of the people and the revolution.
White represents the hope of a people at peace.
