History of the flag

The flag was inspired by the arms of the former Dukes of Normandy.

The banner features two leopards with lions' heads to avoid appropriating the three-leopard flag of the King of England.

What do the elements of the flag mean?

  • The red refers to Normandy's Viking origins, using the colors of the flag of St Olaf.
