Oregon: Meaning and History

History of the flag
Adopted in 1925, the Oregon flag is the only double-sided flag in the United States.
One side features the 1859 state seal, and the other side shows a beaver, symbol of the local wildlife and nickname of the state: ‘The Beaver State’.
What do the elements of the flag mean?

The state seal depicts a British warship leaving America and an American steamship arriving. It also features references to Oregon's abundant agriculture.
Navy blue embodies loyalty and courage.

The other side of the flag depicts a golden beaver, the state's mascot.
