History of the flag
Created in the 1970s and 80s, the Tamil Eelam flag is the emblem of the movement for an independent Tamil state in northern Sri Lanka.
The flag is used by the Tamil diaspora.
What do the elements of the flag mean?

The tiger embodies Tamil strength and pride. The yellow circle formed by 33 rounds of ammunition and crossed by two rifles embodies the spirit of armed resistance.
Symbolizes the blood shed for the liberation of the people, as well as justice and sacrifice.
