**Three** horizontal stripes, a simple balance... but powerful symbolism.

🟡 **Yellow: wealth and light**

The yellow band occupies the upper half of the flag.

It symbolizes:

  • **Natural wealth (gold, resources, biodiversity)**

  • **The tropical sun**

  • **Prosperity and energy**

Its **dominant** size underscores its importance.

🔵 **Blue: the two oceans**

In the center, a deep blue stripe.

It represents:

  • **The Pacific Ocean**

  • The **Caribbean** Sea

  • **Rivers and water, source of life**

**Colombia** is one of the few South American countries with access to two oceans.

🔴 **Red: courage**

At the bottom, intense red.

It embodies:

  • **The struggle for independence**

  • **Courage**

  • **Sacrifice**

A vibrant color, reflecting the country.

  • **Venezuela**

  • **Ecuador**

These nations were part of Gran Colombia, a project for union championed by Simón Bolívar.

A flag that also tells the story of a continental dream.

🎨 **The meaning of the colors:**
