The flag of Cambodia is a direct tribute to Angkor Wat , a jewel of Khmer heritage.
Officially adopted in 1993 , after the return of the monarchy, it symbolizes both imperial history, religion and the rebirth of the country .

In the middle of the flag sits a stylized white representation of Angkor Wat , the world's largest religious temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This unique symbol evokes:

• The national pride of the Khmer people

• Buddhist spirituality , very present in Cambodian culture

• The continuity of a thousand-year-old civilization

It is one of the only flags in the world to depict an actual building .
