The flag of the Democratic Republic of Congo , adopted in 2006 , is one of the most dynamic and colorful on the African continent.
It reflects both the hopes for unity , the natural resources and the desire for peace of a vast country in the heart of Africa.

⭐ A gold star on a blue background

📍 In the upper left corner, a yellow five-pointed star symbolizes the bright future of the country, its sovereignty and its national unity .

This star is a symbol of light : the light that the Congolese people carry within them, despite the challenges.

➡️ A diagonal red stripe

A red stripe runs diagonally across the flag, from the bottom left to the top right.
It represents:

• The blood shed by the martyrs of independence

• The historic struggle for freedom and justice

It's a line of action , which gives a real sense of movement and energy .

💛 Two yellow lines: peace within a framework

Framing the red band are two yellow lines which represent hope , justice and the resources of the Congolese soil .

Gold, which is very present in the DRC, is also a metaphor for the country's internal wealth – human as well as natural.
